Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner CBE, aka Sting, is a British musician, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, singer, actor, activist and philanthropist.

Early Life Edit

Sting was born on 2 October 1954, in Wallsend, Northumberland, England. Eldest of four children, his mother was a hairdresser and his father was a milkman and an engineer. As a child, he helped his father deliver milk and enamoured by an old Spanish guitar that a friend of his father left with him.

After attending St. Cuthberts Grammar School in Newcastle upon Tyne, Sting held a variety of different jobs including building labourer, bus conductor and tax officer; all before becoming qualified as a teacher in 1974, after attending Northern Counties College of Education.
